Miami Rental Property Renter’s Insurance Realities

Aside from calculating your monthly payments, when deciding to rent a Miami rental property, you should think about getting a renter’s insurance. There are a lot of renters who skip buying coverage for their belongings because either it’s too expensive or they think they possessions don’t have that much value. Some even think that the landlord’s insurance also covers their belongings. Wrong. There are a lot of reasons why a renter should by insurance. Before you decide to skimp on protection, read on and decide after.

Renter’s insurance is different from the landlord’s

Miami rental property landlords have to protect their assets. They need to buy coverage for their residential properties. While you’re unit is going to be covered by this insurance, not so much the things you put in it. Like in condo ownership, unit owners must cover their properties for accidents. The insurance coverage will also likely cover any present and future renovations on the property. If you think that you’re properties are not worth covering, think twice before passing on the renter’s insurance. The importance of this coverage cannot be stressed enough.

Renter’s insurance is affordable

If you're in the habit of spending $10 to $20 dollars on shoes, bags or clothing each month, then the renter’s insurance wouldn’t be much of a problem. Don’t sacrifice the safety of your belongings for mere parsimony. If you want lower rates, you have the option to raise the deductible. Renter’s insurance is flexible: you can choose the things you want to cover and decide on the breadth of the coverage. You even have the option to pay for the replacement-cost average. This way, if you're seeking reimbursement, the amount will be based on the current replacement cost and not the original value.

Renter’s insurance can protect you regardless of the building

Let’s say you live in a sought-after Miami rental property or one of the hottest buildings in the city. Even if this is the case, you cannot tell when accidents will happen. Don’t forget that when you decide to live in a co-op, you are at the mercy of your neighbors’ dangerous antics and costly kitchen shenanigans. In the end, the prominence and popularity of your building won’t save your belongings from damages caused by an unforeseen accident.

Renter’s insurance will cover your belongings

One reason why Miami rental property renters skip on the renter’s insurance is because they are easy to conclude the worthlessness of their belongings. You might be surprised at how much your books, CDs, sheets and kitchen appliances will add up.
